Reasons for Running
I wish to run for member at large to represent dental students that are pursuing a masters degree and wish to conduct research in their careers. I also believe I have the qualities to excel in this position and represent the membership to the board of directors. My qualities fit for this position include relentless diligence and passion for dental research. For example, in the past two years of dental school, I have conducted research for the entire time (juggled school and research), presented at the two past AADOCR and IADR meetings, and competed in two competitions. I have convinced two of my classmates to join a research project by talking about my experience and why dental researchers are so important. I hope to continue to be involved in dental research and share my experiences with the rest of the dental community. I believe this opportunity would help me gain more insight on the inter workings of the research group.
Research Conducted
Artificial Intelligence (AI) research in caries detection in Dr. Chun-Teh Lees lab
- presented poster at UTSD showcase, AADOCR, and IADR
- initiated meetings with lab members to share and reflect on project
- built a how-to guide on annotating radiographs for new lab members
- won Bouquot award for dental innovation and placed 2nd in Hatton Junior competition
Caries detection performance between deep learning model and human subject in in Dr. Chun-Teh Lee lab
- presented poster at UTSD showcase and AADOCR
- won best abstract in category at showcase
Student Activities
Regional representative for Southwest B region
- reached out to peers at school via email to spread the word about NSRG and events
