IADR and AADOCR Announce Recipients of the 2024 IADR/AADOCR William J. Gies Awards

Alexandria, VA, USA – The International Association of Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (IADR) and the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (AADOCR) have named the recipients of the 2024 IADR/AADOCR William J. Gies Awards. The recipients were recognized during the Opening Ceremonies of the 102nd General Session of the IADR which was held in conjunction with the 53rd Annual Meeting of the AADOCR and the 48th Annual Meeting of the Canadian Association for Dental Research, on March 13-16, 2024 in New Orleans, LA, USA. 

The award in Biological Research was presented to A. Jin, H. Xu, X. Gao, A. Jin, S. Sun,Y. Yang, X. Huang, X. Wang, Y. Liu, Y. Zhu, Q. Dai, Q. Bian, L. Jiang, for their paper, “ScRNA-Seq Reveals a Distinct Osteogenic Progenitor of Alveolar Bone,” J Dent Res 102(6):645-655. 

The award in Biomaterials & Bioengineering was presented to Y. Yao, JE. Raymond, F. Kauffmann, S. Maekawa, J.V. Sugai, J. Lahann, W.V. Giannobile, for their paper, “Multicompartmental Scaffolds for Coordinated Periodontal Tissue Engineering,” J Dent Res 101(12):1457-1466.

The award in Clinical Research was presented to H. Larvin, J. Kang, VR. Aggarwal, S. Pavitt, J. Wu, for their paper, “Systemic Multimorbidity Clusters in People with Periodontitis,” J Dent Res 101(11):1335-1342

The award is named after William J. Gies, the founder of the Journal of Dental Research. It is given for the best paper published in the Journal of Dental Research during the preceding year. It is supported by J. Morita Corporation and consists of a US$1,000 prize and a commemorative plaque.
