AADOCR Names Recipients of the 2025 AADOCR Delta Dental Institute Oral Health Equity Research Award

Alexandria, VA – The American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (AADOCR) has announced the recipients of the 2025 AADOCR Delta Dental Institute Oral Health Equity Research Award. The recipients were recognized during the Opening Ceremonies of the 54th Annual Meeting of the AADOCR, which was held in conjunction with the 49th Annual Meeting of the Canadian Association for Dental Research, on March 12-15, 2025 in New York, NY.

The recipients are:

Access to Care Category

  • Heidi Iongi and Jeri Bullock, University of Utah, Salt Lake City
    Their research aims to evaluate the impact of integrating oral health services into the University of Utah West High School Clinic, an School-based Health Center serving the Salt Lake City School District.

Oral Health Literacy Category

  • Kristin Hoeft, University of California, San Francisco
    Her research aims to assess the implementation of teach-back education in the dental setting, including time, in order to develop best practices for its implementation and the design of a larger implementation and evaluation study.

Established in 2023 with generous support from the Delta Dental Institute, the AADOCR Delta Dental Institute Oral Health Equity Research Award supports two research awards of $25,000 each in the areas of 1) advancing recommendations for greater oral health equity in populations that lack access to dental care, and 2) improving oral health literacy for underserved populations.
