Advocacy Day on Capitol Hill
Join the American Association for Dental, Oral, and Craniofacial Research (AADOCR), the American Dental Education Association (ADEA), and the Friends of NIDCR for Advocacy Day 2025 on April 2-3 in Washington, D.C.
The annual event brings together researchers and scientists, dental school faculty and students, and oral health advocates to Capitol Hill to raise the visibility of oral health, champion NIDCR-funded research, and promote investment in dental education and training programs.
With a new administration in the White House and dozens of new lawmakers in Congress, federal investment in medical research and oral health programs, which have traditionally enjoyed broad bipartisan support, are at risk. Policymakers are considering far-reaching NIH reforms, potentially draconian cuts to public health and research, and curtailing water fluoridation – one of the 20th century's greatest public health achievements.
We need your help to educate policymakers about the value of federal agencies such as NIDCR, CDC, and HRSA’s dental training programs. Join the oral health science community on April 2-3 and demand that Congress continue supporting these programs!
The event will include a legislative briefing on April 2 featuring senior federal agency officials and an opportunity to learn more about research training opportunities at NIDCR and HRSA. Attendees will also receive training on the federal appropriations process and the host organizations’ legislative priorities. The following day, participants will be placed in groups and attend meetings on Capitol Hill with their own elected officials.
There is a flat $25 registration fee for Advocacy Day to help subsidize the cost of scheduling congressional meetings, advocacy training, printed materials, and a continental breakfast.
